WHEATON, MD—The Montgomery County Department of Parks, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is hosting Brides on the Bus, Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 10:00 am through 4:00 pm.
This special event allows brides-to-be, grooms-to-be, family members, wedding planners and other interested parties to tour all five Montgomery Parks event centers: Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Rockwood Manor in Potomac, Seneca Lodge in Boyds, the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood and Woodlawn Manor in Sandy Spring. Brookside Gardens is an award-winning, unique public gardens and popular wedding location. Rockwood Manor is a charming estate nestled in the woods with overnight accommodations for up to 100. Seneca Lodge is a handsome log cabin with cathedral ceilings, a flagstone fireplace and panoramic views.
Just added as an event center last year, the Agricultural History Farm Park offers country charm and a variety of site options including, the contemporary Harvest Room located in the activity center with kitchen and large deck, the historic barn or one of the expansive meadows for tented parties. Woodlawn Manor is an elegant Georgian-style house sitting atop rolling pastures. New at Woodlawn is also an elegant 30 foot by 60 foot white tent available for rent, starting in April, with cathedral window side walls, designer lighting and ceiling fans and brick floor.
“These sites are not to be missed,” said Montgomery County Department of Parks Event Center Manager Shelley Fisher. “Just show up, leave the driving to us and we’ll take you to five of the prettiest, most unique and most affordable event venues in Montgomery County.”
Brides on the Bus (buses) will depart from either Brookside Gardens or Seneca Lodge. Each venue will be decorated and set up to show the wedding possibilities. Parks staff will also be on hand to answer questions and all the sites will feature catering, flower, music, cake, photography, printing and wedding planning vendors with displays and information. While on the bus, all will have a chance to play games, win prizes (including $500 off a venue rental) and get tips from wedding experts.
The cost of Brides on the Bus is only $25 per person (up to four additional people can be added to any party for $10 each). Registration is available online at www.ParkPASS.org (Course No. 139049 for Brookside Gardens departure and Course No. 139050 for Seneca Lodge departure).
