BOYDS, MD — The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) seeks volunteers to tag and release monarch butterflies and visitors to join a pontoon boat tour with a park naturalist as a part of “Monarch Fiesta Day,” Saturday, September 17, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Black Hill Visitor Center, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds, Maryland.
Monarch Fiesta Day participants will enjoy games, butterfly hunts, exhibits, walks, story times, “The Monarch King” movie, creative drama, monarch tagging and more. Visitors can learn water coloring with artist-exhibitor Helen Edmunds, view a Monarch life cycle exhibit, and take a meadow walk or a garden walk with park naturalists. Children can have their faces painted with a butterfly or a caterpillar. Games, creative dramatics and other activities will explore the fascinating world of butterflies.
