Forest Conservation Law revisions

Since 1992, state law has required Maryland counties to conserve and plant forests through the development review process. Beyond their visual appeal and shade, forests filter groundwater, slow storm water runoff and flooding, and provide shelter for wildlife. Forests cleanse the air, offset the heat generated by development and reduce energy needs.
